Day 1 of cycling across Japan’s Shikoku island! This route takes us from Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture to Higashikagawa in Kagawa Prefecture, covering 234.78 km over 8.5 hours with an elevation gain of 1,160 meters.
We follow a mix of coastal roads, rural backroads, and quiet inland passes, passing through scenic fishing villages, citrus groves, and the mountainous heart of northern Shikoku. The route forms part of the Shikoku Cycling Road, a developing long-distance route that highlights the region’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and unique landscapes.
