Chiba-Kun’s Foot Cycling Course 56KM in Chiba Prefecture
I went cycling around Tateyama-Minamiboso using the made-up course that I named “Chiba-kun’s foot” or 「チーバくんの足コース」. The course is located in the southernmost part of Chiba Prefecture, along the coastline of the Pacific Ocean. I rode on a gorgeous sunny day so the scenery was vibrant and serene, until when I had to stray off from the coastline. For the most part it was a breeze, but one has to be ready to climb some hills here and there. For true cyclists, this could very well be a child’s play, but for fools like me who only love to hop on a bicycle and race the wind, it’s a fair ride.

Leaving more notes to be used as a guide if somebody wishes to try the course.
Starting Point: Tateyama Station 館山駅
↓
Checkpoint 1: Sunosaki Lighthouse 洲埼灯台
Approx. 11km from the starting point
↓
Checkpoint 2: Nojimazaki Lighthouse 野島埼灯台
Approx. 17km from the last checkpoint.
If you return to the starting point via the Tateyama-Shirahama line from here then you’ve completed “館山一周” or “Chiba-kun’s toes”. This is also the halfway mark of the course, and there are plenty of things to do here. Or you could just take a rest.

Checkpoint 3: Chikura Station 千倉駅
Approx. 14km from the last checkpoint.
From here I had to get off from the coastline road to head back to the town proper.
↓
Checkpoint 4: Kokonoe Station 九重駅
Approx. 5km from the last checkpoint
↓
Endpoint: Tateyama Station 館山駅
Approx. 5.5km from the last checkpoint
Chiba-kun’s foot has a total distance of 56.95km. My goal was to hit 50km in under 3 hours, but I finished the whole thing before the 3rd hour 😉
