Yarmouth Second Smallest Town in England – Yarmouth Isle of Wight Historic Town

Take a step back in time with me as we explore Yarmouth, a historic harbour town on the Isle of Wight! This charming destination isn’t just picture-perfect; it’s also England’s second smallest town, rich with over a thousand years of history.

We’ll wander through streets laid out by Norman hands, discover a castle built by King Henry VIII, and stroll along the iconic Yarmouth Pier, the longest wooden pier in England still open to the public.
Yarmouth, despite being one of the smallest towns, has played a significant role in England’s history. It was once an important port and features a fascinating past, including French raids and a strategic castle. We’ll delve into all of that and more!

This video isn’t just a history lesson; it’s an invitation to experience the unique charm of Yarmouth. We’ll visit historic pubs, boutique shops, and even a former railway station turned restaurant. You’ll see why the smallest town is a must-visit, with its beautiful harbour, rich heritage, and stunning coastal scenery.

  2. Another lovely video – especially appreciated from my perspective as a now homebound Brit here in the US – I never did visit the island, but thank you for giving me the chance to visit now !

  3. Just found your channel last week, have been watching your back catalogue in the evenings. Yarmouth film was lovely, lovely filming and history. Off the rails looked a lovely place for lunch. When was this filmed? 😊

  4. If your visit to Yarmouth includes a Saturday night and you like lively live music you must visit Salty's, shown at 2:50, where music is provided by the legendary 'Free Bear' aka Andrew Van Day, aka me! I've been playing there for 25 continuous years (COVID excepted). Dancing on the tables to all the hits. See you there! 🎉

  5. Sorry Mate..I am seriously running of superlatives. I have been following along since you had 13 500 subs. Love this channel ❤🍁🇨🇦

  6. Simon and Will: We love your videos and look forward to each new episode. Your footage and commentary are first rate! We love seeing some of our favorite places again, and discovering a few we missed over the years. Keep up the good work! Happy travels, you two!!

  7. Thank you so much for your lovely videos! It allows many of us to travel across Europe vicariously through you. Sending you best wishes from Florida!

  8. Such a wonderful video. The town is so picturesque. Beautiful along the sea. Interesting history. I would enjoy exploring the shops. Thanks so much for sharing. You do a great job.😊

  9. What a fascinating town so steeped in history – if my(Ian) little grey cells serve me correctly, I think Yarmouth featured in Treasure Island. This video was just as enjoyable as the previous one. That station cafe was a great place for a lunch, lovely setting.

  10. already looking forward to the lovely cottages. The UK has so many beautiful little towns ! it is just incredible. Thanks for sharing! PS never seen a sandwich like that !

  11. Well, Yarmouth looks stunning. And the railroad themed cafe…amazing! I think I’d have needed a sleep after that epic fish sandwich. 😅

  12. Sometimes England could be overwhelming. Argentina video from weeks before is magnificent and all but really England has a charm that defies words. Among the variety of your videos, I'm eagerly waiting your England adventures. I'm very discriminate person… 😂 So, Keep up.

  13. Thank you very much for another fantastic video. In addition to the great pictures, we love the background information you provide. Best wishes from sunny Schleswig-Holstein.

  14. Love the way that the non-scientific minds worked in earlier times. eg The local Church (and graveyard) were usually perched high up above the living inhabitants. Thus allowing whatever malady had taken off the relies to seep into the local water supply down in the village. 😱
Was all set to type in a question about the motive power of the old mill when your explanation of the tidal system hove into the picture. Love old mills and once hauled a hefty 1:200,000 ADAC atlas in my pack all over Germany because, in addition to all the other Teutonically-included info, it showed the sites of all the former mills. 😉😊

  15. £6.20 for the parking, well you obviously didn't look on the IOW Council website for the Tourist Parking Permit – add your vehicle details onto their website and pay the appropriate amount for how long you need and then you can park as long as you like in all Council owned car parks. A very useful scheme which isn't publicised enough by the Council or Tourist information centre.

  16. Such a refreshing video with Beautiful streets and pretty houses & the best history part, enjoyed lot 😀 the place is so attractive thanks for sharing 😊

  17. ✊Thanks for the informative video,😍👏……I have never seen anyone do this better than Jack Chozen. I actually invest in stocks and cryptocurrencies and it has been very profitable for me. I make $55,000 every week even though I barely trade. Thank you Jack Chozen for keeping me updated. I am so glad I started using your program.🚀🚀🚀
