Myoko Kogen ski resort is located close to the sea in Niigata Prefecture. The precipitation first occurs here before reaching Nagano’s ski resorts further inland. Myoko Kogen (Mt. Myoko) consists of several ski resorts but the main ones are Akakura Kanko, Akakura Onsen, Suginohara and Ikenotaira. This resort is famous for its abundant Japow, off-piste skiing, and backcountry adventures.

Visitors to Myoko Kogen can still enjoy the nearby town which still has some Japanese atmosphere, providing a unique cultural immersion alongside excellent Japow experience. One thing to note about Myoko Kogen is that the ski areas are not interconnected (except Akakura Kanko and Akakura Onsen). If you don’t have a car, it may be slightly inconvenient if you want to visit all resorts in the area.
