Join me on an exhilarating cycling journey from Machida to Hachioji, and further into the mountains, courtesy of Half Fast Cycling. This ride takes you through some of the most scenic and challenging routes in the Tokyo area.
Route Details:
• Starting with my regular route from Machida to Hachioji.
• Up the hill to Family Mart Convini Konakano (200m elevation).
• Continuing uphill with a total elevation gain that’s challenging but manageable.
• Enjoying the cool mountain air and beautiful rivers and waterfalls.
Highlights:
• The video starts at Hinohara Tokyo Citizens’ Forest (992m) with a bathroom break and restocking water bottles
• A short climb to the highest road point in Tokyo at 1151m
• An exhilarating downhill ride to Lake Okutama on smooth tarmac with no junctions or traffic lights, reaching speeds up to 65.3 km/h
• Continuing downhill to Fussa with opportunities for amazing speeds
Technical Insights:
• Watts, KM/k, and mph are set at a 3-second average, so dials don’t zero immediately after stopping.
• Tunnels interfere with GPS, especially the nearly 2km long one.
• Climb power data: max 498W, average 140W.
• Cadence meter seems to play up in tunnels.
