Hamamatsu solo ride. A bit of climbing and exploring closed roads in the mountains.

1:28:00 – closed rode
2:02:42 – stunning bridge

Embarking on a solo cycling excursion through Hamamatsu’s mountainous terrain, I anticipated a straightforward ascent. However, a detour presented itself in the form of a closed road. After a brief deliberation, I opted to proceed. While the path was navigable despite the scattered debris, a gravel bike would have undoubtedly offered a more comfortable experience. Once again, Hamamatsu’s breathtaking scenery surpassed my expectations, solidifying its status as a must-ride destination. The region’s sole deficiency lies in the scarcity of cafes and rest stops within the mountainous areas, a stark contrast to Tokyo’s abundance. I remain optimistic that this will evolve with the burgeoning popularity of road cycling in Japan.
