Cycling the Yamanote Line (Part 1) | Shinjuku – Yoyogi – Harajuku – Shibuya – Ebisu – A Non-Stop Challenge (Feb 11, 2025) | Tinh Rides
——————————————————–

February 11, 2025, was a public holiday in Japan. On this day, I took on the challenge of cycling continuously around the entire Yamanote Line.

🚆 About the Yamanote Line:
The Yamanote Line is one of Tokyo’s most iconic railway lines, forming a loop that connects major districts such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, Tokyo Station, Ueno, and Ikebukuro. Spanning approximately 34.5 km, the line is a vital part of Tokyo’s transportation network.

🚴 My Cycling Route & Challenge:
I started my ride at 11:06 AM from Shinjuku Station, following the Yamanote Line clockwise through Shibuya, Shinagawa, Tokyo Station, Ueno, and Ikebukuro, before returning to Shinjuku at 5:34 PM. Since the full video was over 6 hours long, I’ve divided it into six parts:

Part 1: Shinjuku – Yoyogi – Harajuku – Shibuya – Ebisu
Part 2: Ebisu – Meguro – Gotanda – Osaki – Shinagawa
Part 3: Shinagawa – Takanawa Gateway – Tamachi – Hamamatsucho – Shimbashi
Part 4: Shimbashi – Yurakucho – Tokyo – Kanda – Akihabara – Okachimachi – Ueno
Part 5: Ueno – Uguisudani – Nishi Nippori – Nippori – Tabata – Komagome – Sugamo – Otsuka
Part 6 (Final): Otsuka – Ikebukuro – Mejiro – Takadanobaba – Shin Okubo – Shinjuku

🌞 Weather & Challenges:
The weather was sunny but very cold and windy, making cycling quite difficult. Despite the tough conditions, I was determined to complete the full loop without stopping for long breaks.

⏸️ Minimal Stops:
I only took short 5-minute breaks to change my GoPro battery, two restroom stops, and one quick stop at a convenience store near Ueno Station to grab some food.

💪 Mission Accomplished!
Despite the challenges, I successfully completed the full Yamanote Line loop in one go! Join me in this journey as I explore Tokyo by bike, following one of the city’s most famous train lines.
