His FIRST Bikepacking Trip: will Dino survive the Wolf’s Lair?

In this episode of my round-the-world bike tour, I meet up with my friend Dino in Sulmona, and together we take on the Wolf’s Lair bikepacking route. With only seven days to complete the route, we save time by starting from a point further along the trail, taking a train to get there. On a sunny autumn day, we begin the ride. The first day is uneventful and mostly on paved roads, but Dino starts having issues with his saddle, making it a tough start for him. We camp in a peaceful valley after Campo di Giove. On the second day, the route gets more exciting with dirt roads and stunning views as we cross the Altipiano delle Cinque Miglia. Dino takes a fall but keeps going, and we finish the day in a mountain hamlet near Scanno, where we enjoy homemade buffalo mozzarella and pasta with friends.
