In this episode of my round-the-world bike tour, I wake up thankful for the roof that sheltered me from an intense overnight thunderstorm. Starting the day with a climb, I pass through a small village to stock up on supplies. As the rolling hills of Tuscany give way to rockier terrain, I take a break to wait out a rain shower and meet Jack, an American photographer. Deciding to change my plans, I leave the Tuscany Trail and follow the Via Francigena towards Rome. Together, we ride out of Tuscany and into the Lazio region, stopping at Lake Bolsena for pizza and beers. While Jack checks into a hotel, I head out of town in search of a wild camping spot for the night.
