南極講演会
南富良野高校で開催されたアウトドア講演会
5月31日に、南富良野高校で第1回アウトドア講演会が開催されました。講師として登壇したのは、南富良野町どんころ野外学校ガイドの金村孔介さんです。
金村孔介さんの経歴と活動
宮城県大崎市生まれの45歳。中学時代に自転車で北海道を旅行し、その経験からアウトドアへの興味を深め、現在はどんころ野外学校でガイドとして活動しています。また、南極観測隊の一員としても活動しており、その豊富な経験を活かして講演を行いました。

南極観測の重要性
金村さんは、南極での活動についても詳しく説明しました。特に、ドームふじ観測拠点での深層アイスコア掘削プロジェクトについて、その目的や方法を紹介。100万年前の気候を解明するために3000mの氷を掘削する6年計画の2年目にあたるこのプロジェクトの重要性を強調しました。
ワークショップ
講演後には「地磁気とコンパス」をテーマにしたワークショップが行われ、参加者は実際に観測支援の体験をする機会を得ました。金村さんの経験に基づく貴重な話が多くの参加者の興味を引きました。
この講演会を通じて、南極観測の意義やアウトドア活動の魅力について多くの知見が共有され、参加者は新たな学びを得ることができました。

Outdoor Lecture Held at Minamifurano High School
On May 31st, the first outdoor lecture was held at Minamifurano High School. The guest speaker was Mr. Kosuke Kanemura, a guide from Donkoro Outdoor School in Minamifurano.
Profile and Activities of Kosuke Kanemura
Mr. Kosuke Kanemura, 45 years old, was born in Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. During his junior high school years, he traveled to Hokkaido by bicycle, which deepened his interest in the outdoors. He is currently active as a guide at Donkoro Outdoor School. Additionally, he has participated as a member of the Antarctic Observation Team, and he utilized his rich experience in his lecture.

The Importance of Antarctic Research
Mr. Kanemura also provided a detailed explanation of his activities in Antarctica. He introduced the deep ice core drilling project at the Dome Fuji observation base, explaining its objectives and methods. He emphasized the importance of this six-year project, now in its second year, which aims to drill 3,000 meters into the ice to unravel the climate from one million years ago.
Workshop
After the lecture, a workshop themed “Geomagnetism and Compass” was held, giving participants the opportunity to experience actual observation support. Many participants were captivated by Mr. Kanemura’s valuable stories based on his experiences.
Through this lecture, a wealth of knowledge about the significance of Antarctic research and the allure of outdoor activities was shared, providing participants with new insights.
