武論富敦旅:鯉のぼりと散る桜花を愛でる栃木ライド
One hour and 30 minutes on the train. I arrived at Tochigi station.
The carp streamers fluttering through the city are a well-known springtime tradition in this city.
Head out of the city to Mt. Ohirasan.
I thought most of the cherry blossoms had already fallen, but there were still some flowers here and there.
It has the look of a peaceful spring village.
Pushing my bike up steep hills. Flowers along the roadside are also beautiful.
Strange sculptures I saw when I was here before.
View of the Kanto Plain from the observatory in the middle of the mountain.
I got off the bike and walked up to the shrine at the summit.
This staircase has about 1,000 steps.
I wonder how many tourists are paying homage today.
Descending the scenic road to the foot of the mountain.
The rows of cherry trees continue all the way to the end of the road.
I can’t help but miss this beautiful season that is soon to pass.
I’m back in the city.
A food stall in front of the museum. Is it a cafe?
They were selling pizza, so I bought some. It is quite tasty.
The weather is like a summer day, so ginger ale is delicious, too.
Restart.
Entering the Nikko Reiheishi Highway. In the old days, this road was used by the emperor’s envoys to Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
There are many old houses and warehouses along this road.
Excellent. Not too many tourists are here.
It’s too good to pass by on a bike, so I walk.
I’m back in the center of the city. Countless carp streamers hang above the Uzuma River.
The main purpose of this trip is to see this beautiful scenery of the Uzuma River.
Carp streamers swim in the clear air.
I take a break at a cafe called Funamichaya. After a short wait…
A sightseeing boat has come. A boatman is rowing a traditional river boat.
Thank you, the passing flower season.
