During the Heian period it became a mausoleum for the imperial family and some of it can still be seen today A little detour turn right Mausoleum of Emperor Yōzei Shinshō Gokuraku-ji (Shinnyo-dō) Temple This Shinnyodo temple is beautiful in all four seasons

The cherry blossoms in spring and the autumn leaves are especially recommended In front is Munetada-jinja Shrine It is also a sacred place for Kurozumi sect Amaterasu Omikami and the founder of Kurosumi Buddhism are enshrined here When you return to Kaguraoka-dori you will find Yoshida Sanso Yoshida Sanso

This is a villa for the Higashifushiminomiya family built in 1932 and is now a culinary inn On the left is Emperor Go-Ichijō Memorial Shrine of the Bodhi Tree (Bodaiju-in no Misasagi) Emperor Go-Ichijō, Memorial Shrine of the Bodhi Tree (Bodaiju-in no Misasagi) The road gets wider from here

Apparently there was a plan in the Showa era to connect it with Okazaki Dori to the south You can clearly see the capital letters “Gozan Okuribi” on the right side of this area The townscape from the Taisho era remains on this mountaintop on the left I arrived at the north end of Kaguraoka-dori

The north end of Kaguraoka-dori (the intersection of Kaguraoka-dori and Imadegawa-dori) Ginkaku-ji Temple is nearby Masumoto said to be the originator of Kyoto ramen is also nearby

自転車(ダメなところは徒歩)でのんびり走ります。

Hello everyone
Thank you for listening to Cycle Panda ch.
In this video, we will take you through the streets of Kyoto,
which are said to be shaped like a checkerboard.
I ride my bike (and walk where I can’t) at a leisurely pace.
I hope to be able to show you around the city along the way.
Please take your time to take a look.

Kaguraoka-dori
A north-south street that connects Imadegawa-dori in the north and Kagurazaka-dori in the south.
The east side of Mt. Yoshida is called Kaguraoka.
The road that runs along the hill is Kaguraoka Dori.
In the old days, it was considered a sacred place where gods gathered.
It was also the burial place for the imperial family and a mausoleum was built there.
At the end of the Taisho period, the town opened and the foundations of the current town were built.
Today, it is a mysterious street with a mix of mansions, residences, and shops.
