SEOUL – Rain Walk in Myeong-dong | HD Ambience Sound
We’re getting lost in central Seoul today, it’s windy and rainy but quite warm for December (12°C). In this video, we’ll cross raging rivers, see the meaning of true friendship, and some very big Christmas trees. There will be police, there will be flowers pretending to be veggies, and of course, there will be coffee.
We’re starting next to Sungnyemun gate, if we turned right we would end up at Seoul station. Today though we’re heading straight, toward Myeong-dong. I’m still a bit jet lagged since my flight 3 days ago. Walking around Seoul has been an excellent cure with all the smells, colors and sounds keeping me awake.
There is also caffeine. Lots of caffeine. In this video I’ll be jumping in from time to time with a bit of commentary in the form of subtitles. For the most part I will leave you alone with the ambience sounds of hustle and bustle of the city of Seoul.
Try counting how many GS25 shops we pass by in this video. It’s incredible how many convenience stores and cafes this city has. Lots of them open 24/7 I love little architectural additions like that!
Even though you’re in the center of one of the most modern cities in the world it has it’s own distinct vibe. One thing that somewhat surprised me on arrival is that pedestrians don’t necessarily have the right of way, even on the zebra crossing.. Stay safe! Some remnants of the autumn right here
Don’t get fooled, it’s supposed to be snowing and -15°C next week There are tall modern buildings next to medieval cathedrals in this city. I love it. Oh, look! My limousine! The golden bus.. Very convenient way to get to the center from the airport for 17,000 WON.
Let’s take the underpass, it will be easier than trying to pass on the ground Good, people have their umbrellas open underground. I have to hold the camera but don’t want to seem like some open umbrella lunatic. Coming from Europe I’m constantly surprised how clean and graffiti-less underpasses are here.
There is none of the ‘am I getting stabbed today?’ vibe I believe the cardboard boxes belong to some unfortunate people sleeping in there but even they’re neatly folded when not in use. Damn, a person with a folded umbrella. I hope he understand I know it doesn’t rain down here
Let’s check if it’s the right exit. Yup. Public transport in Seoul has been great for me so far You just use your T-Money card on buses, metro and trains to pay the fare The bus stops names are in most cases written down also in English
One surprising thing was the fact that buses don’t have a strict schedule but are described as ‘every 10 minutes’ etc. It does make sense in a big city though Korea Tourist Police, do you think they recruit only tourists? Wonder what the duties are.
Slapping all the people dancing to gangnam style on the street? I’m surprised there are not more bikes on the streets It might be because of winter time though Even more surprisingly, almost no electric kick scooter Are they banned here, or just not convenient to use? Genuinely curious to know..
Christmas decorations are coming together, lovely. Art? Exhaust of a gigantic engine? I’ll try to fold the umbrella after the last underpass fiasco. success! I’m one of the normal people again. They suspect nothing. I failed at opening the umbrella gracefully hence the cut. Coffee smells good here. No! Not yet! Could’ve ran too.
These are some impressive stacking skills. Shall we do another underpass? Ah, right. There is even art in here. Definitely better underpass decoration than elsewhere. These are incredible. Flowers? Cruciferous vegetables? No one knows! There is an ice rink behind the white fence. Not yet open.
The KIA’s and Hyundai’s here are on another level. Looking and sounding like small spaceships. I could have take that lift from the underground.. Deoksugung palace, beautiful area to have a walk around inside. It’s closed today. Five-o, stay cool! We’re clear. Love how the plants are prepared for winter. Urban mushrooms? More mushrooms? Whoa!
I don’t know what’s real anymore. Art right there on the ground! There is more. Awesome building, love the architecture here! One on the right too. Cafes, cafes, cafes everywhere. Hello! Let’s go the other way. I still have a few cool spots to show you. Real friends. glamping? Whoa, wind is getting crazy.
Almost lost my umbrella there. We’re almost there, few more minutes walking. The air seems pretty clear All these decorations looks really nice in the evening, I will do another video of an evening walk. Here we are! The Cheonggyecheon stream. Shall we cross? Let’s give it a go!
Looks like the TV is recording something. Probably shouldn’t bother them. Let’s turn around. Let’s cross that raging stream one more time! It feels like coffee time Let’s find a nice warm cafe to dry up. Great, all this walking and I’ve burned whole 10 kcal. Hello mr. CCTV operator
Let’s go up to get that coffee. From the above it looks even nicer. Lovely spot for a walk! Have you ever been to Seoul What spots should I visit next? This is our coffee spot, finally! Cheers!
Relaxed walk around Seoul, Myeongdong. It’s raining a lot and wind is picking up but I enjoyed it a lot! We’ll visit Deoksugung, Seoul Plaza, Cheonggyecheon and finish up with a steaming cup of coffee.
